interior450x400Pic-A-Deli Café became part of the University Square in Rochester Hills in 1989. The original owners sold the restaurant in 1994 and Chris Heeder purchased the location in 2010 with plans to reinvent the café and change its name to Half Day Café. The name change was a grueling decision because of Pic-A-Deli’s local history. We wanted to maintain loyal Pic-A-Deli clientele as well as offer new and unique menu items and services. Changing our name to Half Day Café gave us the latitude to do just that. However, we know not to mess with success. For that reason, in addition to a variety of new selections, the Half Day Café menu also includes several Pic-A-Deli favorites.

Owner Chris Heeder has years of experience in the restaurant business, working for and managing several well-known metro Detroit restaurants beginning as early as junior high school. Chris was most recently owner of Ridley’s Bakery Café in Troy, developing house recipes and a full catering line with wife Jacqui. They sold the business in 2004 and after a 5 year sabbatical, decided it was time to re-enter the café business!
